Stacy Caddell Bio
Stacy Caddell is a native of Norfolk, Virginia where she began her dance training at the age of 5. She later went to the School of American Ballet as a scholarship student and was invited to join the New York City Ballet by George Balanchine. Ms. Caddell was later promoted to Soloist and she had the honor to dance many Principal roles there. She later left the NYCB to work with Twyla Tharp and Dancers where she performed all over the world including a tour with Mikhail Baryshnikov in the show "Cutting Up". At the end of her performing career she became Ms. Tharp's assistant at American Ballet Theater on the ballet "Know By Heart" and she also assisted Ms. Tharp on "Beethoven's Seventh" at NYCB. Ms. Caddell was later asked to become the Dance Supervisor on Twyla Tharp's Broadway Show, "Movin' Out". Stacy also helped to stage this show's first National Tour. Ms. Caddell also staged the Broadway show "Come Fly Away" at the Royal Danish Ballet. This was the first time a ballet company has done a Broadway show. Stacy became a repetiteur for Ms. Tharp's repertory and staged these ballets both nationally and internationally. Such companies include ABT, NYCB, Royal Danish Ballet, Maggio Danza, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, Zurich Ballet, Ballet de Geneva, Berlin Staatsoper, Vienna Staatsoper, Ballet de Lorraine, Introdans, Sommerballet, Houston Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Pittsburg Ballet Theater, Washington Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Indiana University, Purchase and Hunter College. Ms. Caddell is also a repetiteur for the Balanchine Trust. The ballets she has staged are "Serenade", "Symphony in C", "The Nutcracker", "Theme and Variations", "Walpurgisnacht", "Tin Soldier" and "Valse Fantasie". Stacy has also choreographed the opera "Aida", the short film "Central Park", two episodes of the HBO series The Sopranos, four ballets for Ballet Academy East and a ballet titled "Twin Souls" with all new music composed and played by Luca Mais for the Joffrey Concert Group. She also did a piece to Phillip Glass called "Luminiferous" for the Joffrey Ballet School. Ms. Caddell is currently a Guest Faculty member at Ballet Academy East and a teacher for The Joffrey Ballet School in New York City.
